Henry Simon Dies at Arthur
Henry Simon, former resident of Odebolt, passed from this life Monday afternoon at 3:40 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. A. Collins, in Arthur. He has been in poor health for the past few years. He had reached the age of 88 years, 5 months and 15 days. Henry Simon was born in Clinton, Ia., Aug. 21, 1851. He received his education in the parochial schools of Lyons. On June 25, 1873 he was united in marriage to Christine Ungrue, who preceded him in death in August 1919. To this union ten children were born: Will of Oakland, Calif.; Bernard, Chris and Frank of Vail; Herman or Red willow, Alberta, Can.; Mrs. David Swank, Comstock, Wis.; Mrs. W. A. Collins, Arthur; and Mrs. Floyd Cook of Wall Lake. Marion died at the age of one year. Mrs. Simon also leaves 55 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Mr. Simon came to Carroll County in 1882. He lived on a farm south of Odebolt until 1911 when he and his wife moved to Odebolt. He has been a resident there until the fall of 1937, when he came to Arthur to make his home.
