Services were Feb. 8, 2000 for Farrell Edmond Edwards, 79, of Ida Grove, formerly of Correctionville, at Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove. The Rev. John Schauer officiated with burial in Correctionville Cemetery.

Mr. Edwards died Feb. 6 at Momingside Rehab and Care Center in Ida Grove.

Mr. Edwards was born June 11, 1920, the son of John Henry and Julie (Livermore) Edwards. He grew up and received his education in the Correctionville area, then served in the United States Army during World War II. Following the war, he returned to the Correctionville area where he operated a maintainer for Woodbury County. He married Mildred Jean Weathers Aug. 27, 1949 at Elk Point, S.D. The couple built the Valley Drive-In, which they owned and operated for many years. He also operated a maintainer for the Iowa State Highway Commission. The couple retired to Storm Lake, and in 1992, moved to Ida Grove.

Survivors include four children and their spouses, Gary and Cheryl Roberts Waldman of Cushing, Eva Mae and Dr. Harlan C. Weber of Omaha, Neb., Linda and Verdell Buss of Ida Grove and Randy and Joanne Edwards of Kansas City, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ida Mae Zimmerman of Atlantic.
