BERTHA GREENWALD

Bertha Karolina Anna Greenwald, daughter of Ernest and Bertha Hillman, was born January 1, 1905, in Odebolt. She passed away on September 20 at the age of 70 years, 8 months, and 19 days.

Bertha was baptized on March 12, 1905, in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Odebolt, Iowa She reaffirmed her faith in the Lord Jesus through the rite of Confirmation on March 20, 1921, in the same church. She was a very active and faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Grant Township, Ida Grove for many years. She has been a member of St. John's during the past twelve years.

Bertha was married to Ben Streck in Trinity Lutheran Church. They lived south of Ida Grove during their married life. Mr. Streck passed away In January 1958. On April 28, 1982, she was united in marriage to David Greenwald in St. John's Lutheran Church, Battle Creek. They made their home In Ida Grove until the time of her death.

Mrs. Greenwald was preceded in death by 4 brothers, 6 sisters, and one step-son Walter Streck. She is survived by her husband David; two step-sons, Walter Greenwald of Battle Creek and Marvin Greenwald of Loveland, Colorado; a step-daughter, Mrs. Bernice Alloth of Cushing; a foster son Charles Hillman of Ida Grove; 7 grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Frederickson, Watertown, Wisconsin and Mrs. Irma Roberts of Grant Island.
