Adaline Smith Eells
Died at Battle Creek, Ia. Sunday, January 28, 1894 of Heart Failure, Mrs. Adaline Eells, Aged 62 years, 3 months and 5 days.
Mrs. Adaline Smith Eells was born in East Randolph, Cattaraugus County N.Y. on October 23, 1831 and, when 14 years old, moved with the rest of her family to Winslow Ill. She was Married to Amos Eells in Wisconsin in 1854, and moved to Ida County in 1879, where she resided until the time of her death. Two years ago at this place her husband died after a marriage of over 37 years... There were born to them eleven children, six boys and five girls, all of whom are grown and living She was a member of the United Brethren Church for the past 20 years. Two Sisters and a brother survive her, Mrs. Gaylord of Cedar Rapids. Mrs. Mary Tomme of New York and Alva Smith of Smithland. She has been an invalid for some years, but while her physical life waned, her spiritual life ripened for the heavenly Gardner, and she came to her death like a shock of corn comes in its season. She passed away peacefully without a struggle.
She leaves eleven children and eleven grandchildren to grieve over her departure, her parents, husband and two grandchildren having gone before. The children who are well known and highly esteemed in this vicinity are as follows: Rufus Eells of Battle Cree, Mrs. Mary A. Borah, of Odebolt, Darwin A.Eells and Mrs. Amelia A. Brown of Vermillion S.D., Mrs. Harriet G. Cowles of Delmar , Iowa, Mrs. Bertha M. Wilson, Nettie S. Eells, James J, Eells, William Henry Eells Charles Edward Eells and George Franklin Eells, all of Battle Creek. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church, Rev. A.H. Campbell officiating.
A large number of Friends and relatives , both from this city and abroad being present. Mrs.. M.A. Borah of Oldebolt, Mrs. Jane Gaylord of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Hattie Smith of Smithland…..Pierce and …..Rest is lost.
