HONOR CONARD TAKEN BY DEATH
Deputy County Auditor Dies at Home in Ida Grove Wednesday at 3:30
A beloved woman of Ida Grove, Mrs. Honor Conard, who has been deputy county auditor of Ida county since January 1927, died at three thirty Wednesday afternoon, May 9th, after an acute illness of nearly a month. She had consulted a specialist at Minneapolis late in March and returned to Ida Grove April 4. After a few days at her office she was compelled to take to her bed and rapidly grew worse.
Sarah Honor Jarrett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Jarrett, was born March 21, 1889 at Upper Cross Roads, Maryland and lived to be 39 years, 1 month and 18 days old. She was married September 2, 1911 to William Conard at Baltimore, Maryland. They moved to St. Joseph, Mo., and came to Ida Grove in April 1917. Mr. Conard died in September of the same year and for more than ten years, Mrs. Conard has had the burden of caring for her three little children, which she has done in an heroic and splendid manner. She was connected with the Northwest Mutual Insurance Co. and later was office assistant for Drs. Fisher and Hart. When Henry Wellendorf became auditor in 1927, she entered his office as deputy and made an enviable record for efficiency and capability.
Mrs. Conard is survived by her aged parents, one sister, Mrs. Frank E. Day of Minneapolis, three children, Henry Jarrett, William Homer, and Honor Elizabeth. A fourth child, Mary Margaret, died in babyhood.
Mrs. Conard was a member of the Methodist church and financial secretary for the past two years.
