MAPLETON, Iowa -- Minnette M. Kroll, 96, of Mapleton passed away Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, in Ida Grove, Iowa.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, with Pastor Scott Fiege officiating. Burial will be in Galva Lutheran Cemetery, Galva, Iowa. Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. today at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton. Visitation will resume one hour prior to services Monday at the church.

Minnette (Marsh) Kroll, daughter of Henry and Clara Marsh, was born at Pender, Neb., on May 5, 1910. As a young child, she moved to Mapleton with her parents, where she received her education in the public school system.

In 1929, she married Carl Rusch of Galva, where the couple farmed for many years. They were blessed with five children, Carl Jr., Betty, Leo, JoAnn and Lyle. Besides being a busy farm wife and mother, Minnette did seasonal work at the Schaller popcorn plant and later ran a small cafe in downtown Galva. Carl passed away in 1966. She then returned to Mapleton to help with the care of her mother.

She married Herbert Kroll in 1968. They managed a bar in Ute for a short time. Herb died in 1991.

Minnette loved fishing, bowling in the women's league, traveling with her sisters, baking, reading, and playing cards and board games. She had a full life.

Survivors include her children, Carl Rusch Jr. of Greeley, Colo., Lyle and his wife, Earlene of Lafayette, Minn., and JoAnn Corbin of Ida Grove, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Rusch of Holy Cross, Iowa; a son-in-law, Vance Schubert of Ida Grove; a sister, Phyllis Prichard of Mapleton; two brothers, Farrell "Bud" Marsh of Brunsville, Iowa, and Bob Marsh of Mapleton; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and many other friends and relatives.

Minnette was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Schubert; a son, Leo; a son-in-law, Bill Corbin; four sisters, Thala Barber of Portland, Ore., Ferne Kroll of Omaha, Hazel Davis of Bellwood, Neb., and Faye Maynard of Portland, Ore.; and a grandson, Cary Rusch of Holstein, Iowa.
