Mrs Jacob Schau, 71, died in the Battle Creek hospital Thursday, July 24, 1958, of a heart attack. On July 19 she fell at her home in Battle Cieek and fractured her hip She was taken to the hospital where she suffered the fatal heart attack.

She was born near Mapleton, April 14, 1887, her parents being Wm. and Anna Berndt. On August 27, 1905, she was married to Jacob Schau in Battle Creek. They had resided there all of their mamed life. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in August 1955.

Ten children were born to them; eight of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Romaine Konradi of Odebolt; Mrs Carl Rehse*, Mrs. Henry Mauer, Mrs. Robert Nepper, Mrs. Robert Towns, Henry, Antone and Raymond Schau all of Ida Grove.

One son Edward died in infancy and Walter was killed while in service of World War II.

In addition to the children she is survived by her widower, 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also, two brothers, Fred Berndt of Sioux City and Will Berndt of Portland, Ore.

One sister and her parents preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 26, at 2 p.m. in the Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek. Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Battle Creek.
