Charles Pilcher was born February 20, 1890 in Hayes Township and died at the Ida Grove Hospital Friday morning, October 4, 1957.

He was the son of James Harvey and Jennie Brown Pilcher, pioneer settlers in this community. He was married to Mable Grace Vickery on February 4, 1914. They resided on a farm near Ida Grove several years. About 15 years ago they moved to Ida Grove where Mr. Pilcher engaged in the service station business. He was a good citizen and successful business man.

He was stricken with Parkinson's disease and became an invalid. He was cared for by his wife until her death June 9, 1954. Since then he has been a patient in the Ida Grove hospital. They were the parents of two sons, both of whom died in infancy.

He became a member of Winebrenner Church of God on April 4, 1926.

Surviving are five brothers: Ralph of Missoula, Mont.; Clate and Horace of Fort Dodge, Frank of Lawton and J. Ray of Ida Grove; and one sister, Mrs. Jennie Copps of Ida Grove.

Funeral services were at the Church of God on Sunday, October 6, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Charles Lacquement officiating. Mrs. Harriet Laursen and Mrs. Virginia Wellendorf sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "God's Tomorrow", accompanied by Mrs. John Collier.

Burial was in the Ida Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bruce Clark, Roy Stewart, Chester Phelps, Vierl McClow, Herchel Sheer and Frederick Schoenfeld.
