Evaline B. Schultz, age 95, of Battle Creek, Iowa, died Friday, April 17, 2009, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa.
Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2009, at St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, Iowa. The Reverend Randy Cormeny officiated, with burial at Midway, St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, rural Battle Creek.
Born October 2, 1913, in Woodbury County, Iowa, Evaline Bertha Schultz was the daughter of William D. and Bertha (Eichhorn) Bottjen. She received her education at country schools in Woodbury County.
On August 23, 1933, Evaline was united in marriage to Wilhelm Schultz at Sturgis, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Woodbury County where they farmed for many years. Three children, Janet, Gene, and Larry, were born to this union.
Evaline was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek and of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, embroidery, and sewing.
Survivors include two children and their spouses, Janet and Delton Gruhn of Manning and Larry and Cynthia Schultz of Stratford; six grandchildren, Dwight, Todd, Craig, and Dale Gruhn, and Stacie and Brian Schultz; nine great-grandchildren, Kelli Beckendorf, Jarod and Lance Gruhn, Sarah and Adam Gruhn, Abby and Jordyn Schorg, Kimberly Gruhn, and Kelcy Schultz; and a great-great-granddaughter, Taylor Beckendorf. Also surviving are three sisters, Helen Nelson of Correctionville, Myrtle Hansen of Remsen, and LaVonne Loof of Holstein; and a brother, Edward (Betty) Bottjen of Correctionville.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Gene Schultz; her parents; a sister, Velma Parish; and two brothers, Darrell and Richard Bottjen.
