Lorena Gonterman

Lorena Emma Gonterman, 81, of Wever, formerly of Burlington, died at 10:07 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1998, at Fort Madison Community Hospital in Fort Madison.

Born July 19, 1917, in Sac City, she was the daughter of Halley and Louisa Sargent Davis. On March 3, 1946, she married Earl Gonterman Sr. in Eldon. He died Aug. 24, 1990.

Mrs. Gonterman was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include three sons, Larry Burch and Earl Gonterman Jr., both of Burlington, and Gary L. Gonterman of Wever; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Peters of Garibaldi, Ore., and Lucille of Spencer; and one brother, Arnold Davis of Sac City.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson.

Visitation will be after 10 a.m. today at Lunning Chapel. There will be no family visitation.

The graveside funeral for Mrs. Gonterman will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Brad Cranston officiating.

A memorial has been established for Alzheimer's research.
