Although she took her own sweet time in making her appearance, Misty Michelle Volkmann finally arrived as Ida County’s 1983 New Year’s baby. She brings her parents, Larry and Lila Volkmann of Holstein, many prizes as a result of her number one arrival at 9:05 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 5, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove. She weighed 7 lb. and measured 19 ½ inches long. Welcoming Misty Michelle to Holstein this week are two sisters, Anita VanHouten, 9, and Peggy VanHouten, 7. Grandparents of the first baby of the year are Mr. and Mrs. Carl VanHouten of Oto and Hazel Volkmann of Battle Creek.
