Funeral services for Roy Caryl, 88, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday at United Methodist Church of Rutland.

Caryl died May 30 (1972) at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for the past 10 days.

He is survived by his wife, Mamie, and five children: Mrs. Harvey (Earlene) Jergens, Rutland; Clifton, Rutland; David, Rolfe; Mrs. Wallace (Lucile) Taylor, Rolfe; and Burton, Humboldt; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, William Daniel in 1967.

Roy Caryl was born at Fisk Sept. 7, 1883, the son of Clifton and Maggie Caryl. He was married at Creston, Dec. 27, 1909 to Mamie Lenora Oshel. They made their home in Orient until moving to Rutland March 4, 1919, where he barbered until his retirement in 1963. A member of Rutland Methodist Church, he was a barber throughout his life.
