Funeral services were held Thursday, March 30, for Mr. Emil Gjefle in Decorah in Olson-Fjelstul Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Rev. E.O. Baalson of Waterville officiated. Burial was in St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery at 3 p.m. and Rev. Gerhardt Gosnell of Ottosen officiated.

Casket bearers were Erling Olson, George Grefstad, Orlando Grefstad, Clifford Helland, Neal Olson, and Carlisle Halsrud.

Emil Gjefle was born in Waukon, Iowa, June 15, 1892. He served in World War I and was discharged in 1919 and moved to Bode in 1930. He was married to Geneva Hoff in 1933. He was a farmer until his retirement in 1950.

He is survived by one daughter: Mrs. Eugene (Marilyn) Olson of Decorah, four grandchildren and six brothers and sisters: Mrs. Tennis Kolsrud of Dubuque, Mrs. Enoch Mork of Postvile, Mrs. Clinton Kelly, and Melvin, Theordore and Olaf, all of Waukon. He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers and three sisters. Military rites at graveside were in charge of American Legion Post 524 with Arlis Kinseth in command and Roger Nelson playing taps.
