Funeral services for John Lomen, 81, were held in St. Olaf Lutheran Church Friday, Sept. 22 (1972), with Rev. Palmer Loken officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Lomen died Tuesday morning after a short illness.

John Lomen, son of Knute and Oline Lomen was born at Bode Sept. 14, 1891, and died Sept. 19 at the age of 81 years and five days. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Olaf Lutheran Church and was a lifetime member of the church. He received his education at Bode. In 1914 he married Jennie Slettum and the couple celebrated their golden anniversary at Bode in 1964. Mr. Lomen was employed by Iowa Public Service Company of Humboldt for more than 35 years.

Surviving are the widow, Jennie; daughters: Mrs. Thora Kinseth of Bode; Mrs. Paul (Orpha) Newsome of Algona; Mrs. Gerald (Alice) Bailey of San Rafael, Calif.; and a son, Karly of Brea, Calif.; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a sister, Mrs. Julia Halvorsen of Bode.

Schellhammer Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers (honorary) were Leo Kinseth, Thomas Welch, Thor Selvig, Walter Bakken, George Beebe and Roy Worthington. Active casket bearers were Carl Ludwig, Wayne Senne, Dr. Frank Tepner, Gary Ludwig, Robert Kinseth and John Lomen II. Mrs. Donald Aure was soloist with Mrs. David Engel as accompanist.
