Birdell Pederson was born June 15, 1900 at Bode. She was the daughter of Peter Pederson and Maggie Halsrud Pederson. She was raised and educated in the Bode area. She was married to Maynard Torgerson March 6, 1920 and lived all of her married life in the Humboldt vicinity. After Mr. Torgerson's death in 1979, she made her home with her daughter, Verla Askelson, at Badger.

She is survived by her sons, Myles, Merritt and Richard, all of Humboldt, and Price of Le Center, Minn.; four daughters, Mrs. Dean (Verla) Askelson of Badger, Mrs. Joe (Betty Lou) Strachan and Mrs. Bill (Ruby) Cochran, both of Council Bluffs, and Mrs. Ralph (Donna) Earlywine of Omaha, Neb. Also surviving are 30 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, one brother, Cecil Pederson of Humboldt, and one sister, Mrs. Harold Berge of Bode.

Mrs. Torgerson died Sept. 2 in Trinity Regional Hospital West, Fort Dodge, shortly after being admitted there.
