Funeral services for Oswald L. Halsrud were held today (Saturday, December 20, 1980) at 2 p.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Humboldt.

Pastors Paul Otto and Robert Molldren officiated. Casketbearers were Leo Tofteberg, Arnold Bratland, Arlis Kinseth, Ernest Bratland, Loren Eastman and Melvin Bratland. Special music was provided by Mrs. Roger Heiter, soloist, and John Petersen, organist. Selections chosen were "Softly And Tenderly Jesus Is Calling", and "How Great Thou Art". The congregation sang "Joy To The World". Mrs. Eilert Sampson was in charge of the arrangement of flowers and Eilert Sampson was usher. Interment was in Union Cemetery in Humboldt. Military rites were conducted by Adams American Legion Post No. 119 of Humboldt

Oswald L. Halsrud was the son of Olaf and Laura (Bratland) Halsurd. He was born Dec. 5, 1916, near Ottosen and received his education there. graduating from high school in 1935. He attended business school at Chillicothe, MO., for a time, and then was united in marriage to Evelyn Jensen at the First Lutheran Church in Humboldt on Nov. 16, 1940. They made their home in Humboldt. Oswald served with the United States Army during World War II. He came back to Humboldt, where he managed a Coast to Coast Store, and then owned and operated the Halsrud Paint and Wallpaper Store, where he specialized in picture framing. He was in this business for over 18 years.

He was a member of the American Legion and Our Saviour's Lutheran congregation, where he taught Sunday School and ushered for many years. His health had been failing since August, and he had been in the Humboldt Care Center North for one week, where he passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at the age of 64 years.

Oswald is survived by his wife, Evelyn; his children, Robert of Simi Valley, CA.; Ronald of Monona; Mrs. Gary (Donna) Parrish of Hawkeston, Ontario, Canada; and Mrs. Michael (Janet) Hogue of Humboldt; six granddaughers; his mother, Mrs. Laura Halsrud of Humboldt; and brothers, Maurice of Livermore, Merle of Ottosen, Kenneth of Humboldt, and Gordon of Marshalltown.
