Obituary – Mrs. Hans Jepson
Mrs. Hans Jepson departed this life at her home in Rolfe, Thursday, January 4th, after an illness of several weeks’ duration. Christina Hanson was born December 28th, 1848, in Jutland, Denmark. She came to America in 1872 and resided at Racine, Wis., until June 3rd, 1876, when she united in marriage to Hans Jepson. They came to this locality, where Mr. Jepson secured a farm, now a part of the Geo. Short place, south of Rolfe. Later he sold this farm and moved to Lake Township, and later to a small place near Gilmore City, where, on June 24th, 1904, Mr. Jepson passed away. Mrs. Jepson continued to reside at Gilmore City until 1912, when she bought property at Rolfe and moved to that place. To this union were born seven children, four of whom are still living, these being Mrs. Anna Paine of Mallard, Iowa; Charles, of McGregor, Minn.; Susie, of Rolfe, and Edward, of Hartford, S. D. Mrs. Jepson was one of those motherly home bodies whom to know was to respect and admire. She was of a remarkably pleasant disposition and had enough of sunshine in her make-up that she was able to spread it to others. She was always ready and willing to do a neighbor a good turn, and many can testify to her goodness in times of distress or illness. In the home she was an inspiration to the children and taught them the direction in which their foot-steps should be turned. To them her loss is beyond computing and they sadly mourn her taking away.
