(January 3, 1877 – February 12, 1936)

The Obituary of Mrs. Edgerton
Alice Bell Nibel was born at Alpha in Henry County, Illinois, January 3, 1877 and at the age of 3 years, with her parents, moved to Gowrie, Iowa where she spent her childhood. She was united in marriage to Daniel Owen Edgerton on January 16, 1895 and they lived all of their married life in Gowrie and vicinity with the exception of 4 years on a ranch near Parks, Nebraska (1907-1911); one year on a farm near Dayton, Iowa and 5 years in Gilmore City (1922-1927). To this union were born 9 children, all living.
Her husband preceded her in death July 11, 1930. Her parents and two brothers, Lester and Harry are deceased. During her early life she was a member of the Congregational church of Gowrie, later joining the Methodist church where she was a member at the time of her death. All who knew Mrs. Edgerton knew her to be an untiring, loving mother of a large family, never shirking in an effort to comfort and aid those near and dear to her and to lend a helping hand to those in need. She departed this life on February 12, 1936 at 11:30 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Troy J. Day, following an illness of a few days which developed into a coma from which she did not rally. She passed away very quietly without pain and suffering, at the age of 59 years and 1 month, 9 days. She leaves to mourn her death, nine children: Mrs. C. O. Dixon of Eagle Grove; J. Harold of Sioux Falls; Robert L. Farnham of Gowrie; Mrs. Troy J. Day of Gilmore City; Ray of Humboldt; Verle of Gowrie; Mrs. Clifford Johnson of Harcourt; Inez and Richard of Fort Dodge; seventeen grandchildren; a brother and four sisters, and many good friends.
