Millard D. Monson, 75, Rockwell City, died Monday, January 19, 1998 at his home.

Services will be Wednesday at St. Francis Catholic Church, Rockwell City. Burial will be in the Clinton-Garfield Cemetery at Rolfe with graveside military rites by American Legion Post 25. Palmer Funeral Home of Rockwell City is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife Leona; daughters Pam McNew of Peoria, AZ; Leanne Spangler, Littleton, CO; Kay Hahne of Aurora, CO and Carole Meyersick, Littleton, CO; son Terry of Eagle Grove; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; stepchildren: Janette Rule, Rockwell City; Shannon Baldwin, Gravos Mills, MT and Sharvest Nye of Rockwell City; sister Ruth Ann Dickerson, Fort Dodge and brother Larry Monson of Bode. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Anna Lansing Monson, one sister and two brothers.

Millard D. Monson was born April 27, 1922 at Bode. He graduated from Bode High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps 1942 - 1945 during World War II. He married Carrie Monson and they later divorced. He married Leona Nye in 1961 at Sioux Falls, SD. He was employed as a bookkeeper and accountant for various firms. He was also an adjuster for the IRS, an office manager for the Train Egg Company in Kansas City, MO and custom builder in Cameron, MO. The couple retired and moved to Rockwell City in 1987.
