Gene Madsen, 80, passed away May 25 (2004) in the Kossuth Regional Health Center at Algona.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 28, in the Trinity Lutheran Church at Rutland. Burial is in Blakjar Cemetery at Fenton, the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today (Thursday) at the funeral home in Humboldt.

Gene Madsen was born December 20, 1923 on a farm near Bradgate, Iowa. His parents were John and Edna Henderson Madsen. Gene was baptized and confirmed in the Rutland Trinity Lutheran Church. He graduated from Bradgate Consolidated School, worked on farms and drove truck until 1952 when he bought his own truck and operated a trucking business until 1963.

Gene then worked at the Farmer's Co-op at Bradgate until January 1 of 1986 when he retired as the Co-op's branch manager. Gene was very active in the Bradgate Community and in the Rutland Trinity Lutheran Church.

Gene married Florence Jensen Hansen on December 27, 1954 and became the father of Irvin (wife Connie and children Glenn and Amber), Terry (wife Phyllis and children Tracy, Tony, Angie and Kelly) Donald (wife Judy and children Leslie and Nancy).

Gene has four brothers, Dean, LaMoille, Ill.; Donald, Bradgate; Norman, Monroe; Roger of Sheffield and one sister, Joan Heiter, Humboldt. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Madsen, father, John Madsen and a son, Terry Hansen.
