Ellen Smith Armstrong 1916 - 2004

The Rite of Christian Burial for Ellen Armstrong, 87, of Livermore was concelebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 13, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Livermore. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Livermore. The Wilson Funeral Home of Livermore was in charge of arrangements.

Ellen Smith, the daughter of Isaac and Johanna (Halligan) Smith, was born July 12, 1916, in Bradgate. The family later moved to Livermore, and she attended school there. She married Milton Armstrong on July 11, 1935, in Humboldt. They made their home in Livermore and operated Armstrong Trucking.

Mrs. Armstrong died Friday, July 9, 2004, in Fort Madison. She is survived by three sons and a daughter, Raymond, and his wife, Leilani, of Alden, Minn.; Dennis, and his wife, Mary, of Algona; Dale of West Point; and Beverly Grems, and her husband, Wayne, of Waukee, eight grandchildren, three step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, nine great step grandchildren, two brothers, Alfred Smith, of Algona, and The Rev. Donald Smith, of Sioux City, and one sister, Frances Bardwell, a resident of the North Care Center, Humboldt. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Lester, one grandson, Ron Armstrong, three brothers, Edward, Harold, and Clyde, and a sister, Irene Ramus.
