Darrell DeGroote, 54, Humboldt, died Sunday at Trinty Regional Hospital following a long illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wedneday at St. Mary Catholic Church,Humboldt, with Monsignor Louis Kollasch,officiai. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. Visitation is after 3 p.m. today at the Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt where there will be a public scripture service at 8 p.m. today

Survivors include his wife Mary; son Steven, Story City; daughters, Nancy DeGroote,Las Vegas, and Molly Leisinger, Greeley, Colo., and parents, Loren and Bernice DeGroote, Gilmore City.

He was born in Fort Dodge and raised in Gilmore City where he graduated from high in 1952. He attended the University of Iowa and later attended Buena Vista College, Storm Lake, for two years. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany. In 1957 he returned the area and married Mary Have at Humboldt. He was employed with the Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. for 16 years. Part of that time the couple made their home in Des Moines. For the past 20 years they have lived in Humboldt where he was been employed with the W & H Co-op in the sajes and service department,
