Chrles De Grooe was born, Sept, 26, 1869, just east of th town of,Rutlnd, IA. and et hs death in an atomboile accident tusday evning Juy 2, 1912, being 42 yrs 9 months & 6 days old at the m of hi death.
Mr. DeGroote etire life has bent spent in the vicnity of Rutland and he is well know in this communty.
On March, 1891 he was miried to Miss Nillie Pavey. To this union was born ten Chldren, nine of whom with wife remain to mourn his unimely death. The chldren are: Delcatur, Keno, Ethl, Chrlie, Ray, Clara,Harry, Frannie and Vaughn.
He is also survived by three brothers-Georg and Bert of Rutland and Dan of Humboldt: aslo by four sisters-Mrs. Davenport & Mrs. Jergens of Colorado, Mrs Cook of Rutlnd and Mrs Anderson of California.
Last Tuesday evening Adam Himmelman, who was working for Mr. DeGroote had a bad sore which might needed a physician's attetion and in order that he should not wait until morning, which might have dangerous. Mr. DeGroote took him to Rolfe to a doctor, and it was on the return trip he met with the fatal accident. In trying to steer around a mud hole in the road he came to near the edge of the grade and his car turned over the embankment and pinned him beneath it.
Mr. DeGroote's nck was broken. Mr. Himmelman was uninjured and went for helpMr. DeGroote was a kind husband and father and good neighbor and leaves many relatives and friends to mourn his departure.
We extend to all the bereaved ones our sincere sympathy and commend them to the God who has promised to care for the fatherless and widow.
Funeral services wehe held Friday afternoon, July 5 at the Methodist Episcpal church in Rutlad, conducted by the pastor, Rev. M. J. McCabe, assisted by Rev. Galloayof Bradgate. The services were largely attended and many fioral tributes adorned the casket. Intgement was in the Union cemtery at Humboldt.
