Word comes from Pullman of the death of our former townsman, John Kruchek, who passed away last Friday, Sept. 20, at the age of 75 years. The family removed from this place several years ago but they still have a large circle of friends here.

One son, W.W. Kruchek, has a farm a few miles east of here.

The funeral occurred Sunday at 2:30 at Pullman, conducted by Rev. Robert Brumblay.

John Kruchek was born August 10, 1837, in Frankfort, Austria. He came to America with his parents when sixteen years old and made his home in Iowa.

In 1861 (sic) he enlisted in the 21st Iowa Volunteer Infantry and gave his country three years' service. He was married to Mary Stewart on New Year's Day, 1868, in Humboldt, Ia., where hey lived until 1900, when they moved to this state, where they have since resided.

The deceased is survived by the wife, thirteen children and five grandchildren. One daughter, Louis Kruchek-Dixon preceded him. - from the Waitsburg (Wash) Times

The Kruchek family were early settlers in Grove township, this county, and were all highly regarded. They left scores of friends when they left here and very many will send unbounded sympathy to the bereaved family.
