Christian A. Rossing was born in Land, Norway, March 23, 1843, to Andrew Rossing and his wife, Anna, nee Waldon. Together with his parents and six brothers and sisters he migrated to America in 1857. The family settled in Argyle, Wisconsin. Mr. Rossing was baptized in Norway and confirmed by the Rev. Styrk Munch, of Argyle, the first year of his residence in America.

He worked for some time in the pineries of Wisconsin and enlisted from Menomonie, Wisconsin, for service in the Union army in the Civil war, at the age of eighteen. He was assigned to Co. K. Fifth Wisconsin infantry. He entered the army on May 10, 1861 and was honorably discharged on July 30, 1864, serving his adopted country three years and four months.

From the beginning of his residency here and until his death, he was vitally and actively interested in all matters of welfare to his community. The church of his Lord was especially dear to his heart. He was one of the organizers of St. Olaf Lutheran church of Bode and is the last survivor of its charter members.

[This part of the obituary was very dark and not very readable and the rest is even worse.]
