Fred Stratton Fred Stratton (76), Realtor, Property Manager, newspaper delivery technician, husband, father and devoted family man died Thursday, April 10th at home surrounded by his family. Born Frederick Ellery Stratton on August 8th, 1926 in Humboldt, Iowa to Albert and Anna Stratton, Fred migrated to California in 1940. He
graduated from Mount Diablo High School in 1944. After a short stint in the Army Air Corps, he went to school at DVC, San Jose State and later at Cal Berkley. He worked for 25 yers as an independent newspaper distributor for the Oakland Tribune.

Famous for driving on the wrong side of the road, he brought the news to over 600 of his neighbors every morning. Selflessly providing for his family, he was also a full-time Realtor and Property Manager for over 50 years. He was known as a man "who knew everyone" and all who knew him liked and respected him. Fred loved the outdoors. As a younger man, he loved scuba diving and formed "Diablo Divers," the first dive club in Contra Costa County. He also loved to fish. His favorites were trout fishing at Loon Lake and trips on his boat, the "Delta Wave."
Fred will be remembered for his devotion to his wife, Kay, of 40 years and his six daughters and son: Linda Ann Morawitz, Connie and Brantley Stephens, Leslie Bellamy and Tim Walters, Lora and Bill Mashore, Janet and Larry Harris, Linda Kay and Steve Merys, and Rick and Kathy Stratton. Fred's continuing legacy is his 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. His sister, Alberta Boeger and husband George, and his brother, Al Stratton and wife Lynn also survive him.
A memorial service will be held at 10am, Tuesday, April 15th at Ouimet Bros. 4125 Clayton Road, Concord followed by a graveside service at Oakmont Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, (925) 682-4242.
