MYRON SORENSEN, 73, RETIRED FARMER, DIED THURSDAY EVENING

Funeral services for Myron Sorensen, 73, retired Humboldt County farmer, who died Thursday evening shortly before midnight, were held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Wesley M. Anderson officiating.

Mrs. Merlin Nelson sang during the services, accompanied by Mrs. Wesley Anderson. Mrs. Theodore Jensen and Mrs. Hans Schultz were in charge of the flowers.

Casket bearers were Royal Sorensen, Lyle Sorensen, Gene Sorensen, Jens Sorensen, John Sorensen and Edward Cartwright. Burial was in the Union Cemetery with the Lindhart Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Sorensen was born in Jutland, Denmark in 1884 and came to Humboldt County in 1903. He farmed in the Bode community until he retired and moved to Humboldt.

He is survived by: his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Barney Cartwright of Humboldt, Mrs. Hans Christensen of Clovis, New Mexico, and Mrs. Ralph Gamwell of Miami, Florida; 17 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Marie Nelson, Mrs. Serena Freis, and Mrs. Peter Simonsen of Humboldt, and two brothers, Peter A. Sorensen of Humboldt and Chris Sorensen of Rolfe.

He was preceded in death by one son, three grandchildren and his parents.

Myron Sorensen was born April 18, 1884 in Jutland, Denmark, and came to Humboldt County, Iowa in 1903. He was married to Kristine Ebsen July 4, 1908 at Bode.

They farmed west of Humboldt until 1936, when they retired and moved to Humboldt. They were the parents of one son, Jens, who was killed in an accident in Minnesota about 10 years ago, and three daughters.

Mr. Sorensen died at his home in Humboldt at 12:30 a.m. Friday, October 19, at the age of 72 years, 6 months and 1 day.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, October 22, at 2 o’clock at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Wesley M. Anderson officiating.
