OBITUARY.
Stockman.
Mary A. Brown was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and died in Cresco, Iowa, Jan. 9th, 1919.
When a child she came to Illinois with her parents. Here she spent most of her young womanhood. Later she moved to Nebraska.
On February 17, 1880, at St. Edwards, Neb., she was united in marriage with her now bereaved husband. Most of her married life was spent in Cresco, although spending four years in Nebraska. She was a good and faithful wife and a kind neighbor, deeply interest in all.
For several years she had been a patient sufferer, often expressing her desire to depart to be with her Lord. She died trusting fully in the merit of the shed blood of the Son of God, and in spite of her dreadful sufferings rejoiced in the prospect of a speedy release and expressed her desire to become a member of the Baptist church, but her condition made baptism seem inexpedient.
She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband, Horace W. Stockman, of Cresco, Mrs. Martha Whitton, Sioux City, Iowa, Mrs. Jennie Hare of Albion, Neb., and Miss Emma Day of Monmouth, Ill., and many friends.
The funeral services conducted by Rev. J. A. Pettit were held in the Baptist church on Sunday, Jan. 12, at 2:30 o’clock. Burial was at Oaklawn.
Card of Thanks.
I wish to express my deep and heartfelt gratitude to the kind friends and neighbors who so freely showed their appreciation and sympathy during my sorrow and lon{e}liness at the home of my wife’s sickness and death.
