OBITUARY.
CASHMAN
This community was shocked last week to learn that Mrs. Wm. Cashman of Acme had suffered an apoplectic stroke and was in a serious condition. She had been working around as usual and having complained of not feeling well went up stairs to lie down for awhile to rest. She never fully recovered from this attack and passed away at 10:15 p. m. Friday, May 24th.
Anna Jane O’Connor was born at Bankston, Dubuque county, Iowa, Aug. 8, 1855. She was married to Mr. Wm. Cashman Nov. 1, 1871 and since that time this worthy couple were residents of this county, living on a farm west of Acme.
Mrs. Cashman was a woman of beautiful character, devoted to her family and faithful to her church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and ten children. The children are: Mrs. J. W. Callahan, Osage, Ia., Mrs. W. J. Ryan, Cresco, Ia., Lala Cashman, Virginia City, Montana; Frank and M. B. Cashman, Williston, N. D.; Harry Cashman, Elma, Ia., Earl, Camp Dodge, Ia., Joseph, Stella and Lynferd at home. She leaves five sisters; Mrs. Will Kingsley, Dubuque, Ia., Mrs. M. W. Daly, Dubuque, Ia., Mrs. Daniel Sullivan, Pankston, Ia., Mrs. Tom Cashman and Mrs. Tim Deegan, Elma, Ia. She leaves one brother, Maurice O’Connor of Bankston. All of the above were present at the time of her death.
The funeral was held Monday, May 27th, from the St. Cecilia church and was attended by a large concourse of friends of the family. Father Collins celebrated the mass and preached a fitting tribute to the deceased whose womanly character and christian virtues were deserving of the highest praise.
