Death of Otto Stevens.
Otto Stevens, of Albion township, passed away Monday night at Rochester, Minn., where he underwent an operation a short time ago at the Mayo hospital. His funeral was held yesterday afternoon at his late home, Rev. Guy Rutherford of Quasqueton, a former friend and pastor, officiating. The Masons were in charge of the funeral and conducted their ceremonies at the grave in Oak Lawn.

OBITUARY
Stevens.
Otto Stevens was born in St. Louis, Mo., April 4, 1860. At an early age he moved with his parents to Wisconsin and in 1868 to Howard county where he has since resided. He was the oldest of eight children. Sophia (Mrs. Andy Butler) and Theodore, deceased; William of San Antonio, Texas, Albert of Acme, Adelaide of Waukesha, Wis., John S. and Frank of Cresco.
He ws united in marriage with Miss Anna Brink Dec. 10, 1891. To them one daughter, Mrs. Ralph Peckham, was born who with the wife remain to mourn the loss of a kind and loving father and husband.
Mr. Stevens was man who will be greatly missed both in the lodges, Masonic and I. O. O. F. of Cresco, of which he was a member, and more particularly in the community in which he lived, where he was ever ready to assist in any movement that might be to the betterment of the people, and also the C. I. C. of which he was an enthusiastic worker will greatly feel his loss.
Early in the spring Mr. Stevens was stricken with pleurisy which developed in an abcess of the lung. An operation being necessary, it was thought best to take him to Rochester where five weeks ago the operation was performed. For a time he was thought to be improving, but later his illness assumed an alarming form and he passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 11, 1917, at the age of 57 years, 5 months, 7 days.
The funeral was held from the late residence Thursday afternoon, Rev. Guy Rutherford, a former friend and pastor, officiating. The Masons conducted the ceremonies at the grave in Oaklawn.
The bereaved wife and daughter desire to express their sincere thanks to the king neighbors and friends for their sympathy and assistance in the hour of their sorrow.
