Death of John Rakow.
John Rakow was taken ill last Monday with what proved to be an obstruction of the intestines, and on Wednesday an operation as deemed necessary as a last resort to save his life, but the patient did not have enough strength to rally and passed away early yesterday morning.
The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the German Lutheran church in charge of the Odd Fellows, with interment in New Oregon cemetery. He was also a member of the W O. W., the M. W. A. and the R. N. A.

OBITUARY

Rakow.
John Rakow, son of John and Amelia Rakow, was born Feb. 29, 1864, at Splietcdorf, Germany. He was the eldest son of a family of ten children. He emigrated to America May 9, 1883, and located in New York until August of the same year when he came to Cresco in which vicinity he lived until his death Aug. 16, 1917. Jan. 16, 1891, he was married to Fredericka Ewert. This union was blessed with five children, one dying in infancy. He leaves to mourn his death a wife, a son William of Austin, Minn., and Albert, and daughters Mrs. W. Walton and Miss Emma of Cresco, one brother Robert of Cresco, and one sister Mrs. Anna Mau of Silvasse, Ill.
Funeral services were held at Immanuel’s Lutheran church Sunday, conducted by the pastor Rev. J Pless and burial was in New Oregon cemetery. Members of the Odd Fellows lodge, of which deceased was a member, attended the funeral in a body; also members of the M. W. A.
