Death of N. B. Wheeler
Cresco mourns the death of one of its pioneer citizens, N. B. Wheeler, who passed away Tuesday forenoon, after a very brief illness, although he has been in failing health since early spring. He was in Chicago last week to seek medical advice for kidney trouble, but felt so well that he was planning a trip to Minneapolis, intending to start Tuesday morning, but was taken suddenly ill Monday evening and died as the result of uremic poisoning.
The funeral was held yesterday afternoon in charge of the Masonic fraternity of which he had been an honored member for over 40 years. A large delegation from Beauseant Commandery, of Decorah, of which he was a member, came up to participate in the funeral ceremonies. Obituary next week.

OBITUARY.
WHEELER
Noah Beach Wheeler was born in Litchfield, Conn., in 1836, on the 24th day of August, and departed this life on July the 24th, 1917, aged 80 years and 11 months.
At an early age he moved with his parents to Litchfield, Ohio, where he grew to manhood. Later he moved to McGregor, Iowa, where he followed the trade of mason. Here he was married to Emily M. Miller in 1859, to which union two children were born, Frank A. and Mrs. Hattie M. Marshall both of Cresco, whom beside the wife and nine grandchildren are left to mourn his death. Mr. Wheeler joined the Masonic lodge at New Oregon in 1869. He was also a member of Shiloh Chapter of Cresco, Beausant Commandery of Decorah and El Kabir Shrine at Cedar Rapids.
In 1886 he founded the brick yard and carried on the business successfully. In 1886, in company with John McCook he organized the Cresco Brick and Tile works later buying Mr. McCook’s interests. In 1901 he retired and sold the business to C. A. Marshall.
He was known as a man of sterling qualities and his integrity in business matters was always uppermost. Cresco loses one of its best public-spirited citizens—one who will be missed by the whole community. Mr. Wheeler has led an active and useful life, which was brought to a peaceful close. His genial manner and pleasant smile will be missed by all. ***
