Maurice Jack Williams 1935–2023

Maurice Jack Williams “Jack”, 87, a resident of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away at his home on February 23, 2023. Jack, born on July 9, 1935, in Wycoff, Minnesota, was the first of four children born to Maurice John and Cathern Williams. Jack graduated from Lime Springs High School in 1953, where he was involved with basketball, boys glee club, and drama.

Jack honorably served in the US Army from 1957-1959. Jack earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Iowa State, and relocated to Lee’s Summit, Missouri to work for Western Electric/ Lucent. He retired from Lucent after 28 years of service and continued his engineering career in Illinois with 12 years of service at Microswitch/ Honeywell.

Jack thrived when he was theorizing, inventing, and designing. Jack had a heart for giving and actively participating in his local church and sang in multiple choirs including barbershop quartets.

Jack shared his love for family by adopting four children, Amy (Williams) Miller, David Williams, Larry Williams, and Tina Williams, and including Pastor Ron Anderson as his fifth child.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice John Williams and Cathern Pearl Williams.

He was survived by five children: Amy Miller (Brian Swafford), David Williams (Rhonda), Larry Williams, Tina Williams (Mike Nevel) and Ron Anderson (Kim); eight grandchildren: Chase Miller, Athena Miller, Canyon Swafford, Kaesynn Nevel, Ariah Nevel, Janae Anderson, Marc Anderson and Josh Anderson; three siblings: Marian Seagren, Jane Bramlett (John) and Janet Milota (Robert).

A graveside service will be held at 11 am on July 14, 2023 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lime Springs, Iowa with Pastor Ron Anderson officiating. A fellowship memorial lunch will follow at the Lime Springs Community Center and is open to all wanting to share remembrances of Jack. Lindstrom Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements in Iowa.
