Ruth M. Rinn, age 87, of Cresco, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at Evans Memorial Home in Cresco.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Cresco with Father Jacob Rouse officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the start of the service, with Recitation of the Rosary at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Cresco immediately following the service.
Ruth was born on March 4, 1935 to Thomas and Agnes (McCarville) Rinn in Howard County, Iowa, where they lived on a farm west of Schley. On the farm, Ruth liked to help her father by driving the tractor, feeding the pigs, and doing other outdoor chores, in addition to being involved in 4H. She also helped her mother and sister with house cleaning, and did babysitting while growing up. Ruth had a pet pig, “Porky”, which sounds like it had almost human qualities in responding to her. She attended country school through 8th grade; then two years of high school at Lourdes, IA. Her favorite subject at Lourdes School was algebra, and she had a favorite teacher, Sister Leah. Ruth was baptized at Lourdes Church. Ruth and her family moved to Cresco in 1975 where she became a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church.
Since moving to Evans on January 22, 2010, Ruth found many activities that interested her. She enjoyed Bingo, Paddle Wheel, reading the Times and Courier, and of course, her favorite, Word Search Books, as well as watching television shows such as Gospel Hour and Lawrence Welk. Ruth especially loved the pets that would come to Evans to visit.
Ruth is survived by many cousins and her loving, caring “family” at Evans.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Rinn, mother Agnes Rinn, and sister Rita Rinn.
