Lewis, Elgin Junior 1941 - 2022

Elgin Lewis, age 80, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, January 28, 2022 in Rochester, Minnesota.

Elgin Junior Lewis was born on November 25, 1941 to Elgin R and Cora (Sorber) Lewis in Perry, Iowa. He attended school in Pomeroy, Iowa.

On November 12, 1963 he married Connie Anderson in Lake City, Iowa. To this union three children were born.

Elgin’s love was for farming. He farmed for the majority of his working years. He spent the years leading up to retirement working as an electrician for Featherlite Trailers.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, visiting with neighbors, going on car rides, working in the garden, NASCAR, traveling, dealing on vehicles and houses, remodeling houses and eating sweets. Elgin was an amazing family man, a very hard worker and gave the best advice. His faith and church family were also very important to him.

Elgin loved to joke, have fun and had a smile for everyone. His smile and laugh will never be forgotten. Elgin was loved by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Shawn (Julie) Lewis of Kasson, MN, Shane (Natalie) Lewis of Fort Wayne, IN and Melissa (Brian) Johnson of Ellsworth, WI, seven grandchildren: Calvin Lewis, Laney (Joel) Lewis, Jacie Lewis, Emily (Justin) Yagel, Brooklyn (Levi) Lewis, Kayla (Chris) Dukart and Cory (Katlyn) Speer, two great-grandchildren; Karlee and Keegan and a sister, Lois Schramm.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie, his parents Elgin and Cora, brothers: Cecil, Virgil and Darold and a sister, Doris Derry.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at the Saratoga Community Church in Saratoga, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
