WALTER.
Mrs. William Walter fell asleep, happy in Jesus, in her home in Cresco, Iowa, March 30, 1916, aged 64 years 10 days. She was born in Grabow, Province Alsace, Germany, March 20, 1852, coming to America with the other members of her family in 1868 and settled in Michigan. Here in the year 1869 she united in marriage with William Walter and they journeyed life’s highway 47 years together.
In 1870 they came to Iowa, settling on the old homestead in Albion Township. Howard County, where they resided until coming to Cresco.
She endured the hardships of the pioneer life, helping to establish a home for her family and Christianity in the community. Brother and Sister Walter were converted in the fall of 1869 under the labors of Rev. Tippert and their home was always the home of the ministers of the gospel.
Hers was a quiet, unselfish, prayerful life, spent in the service of God, and the comfort and well being of her loved ones. Loved and respected by all who knew her, and ever ready by word or deed to lend a helping hand she will be missed. She rests from her labors and her works do follow her.
She leaves to mourn her departure, her aged companion, ten sons and three daughters, one son and two daughters who have gone before, one sister, Mrs. Aug. Walter of Cresco, one brother, Fred Knuth of Wisconsin, several grandchildren and countless other relatives and friends.
Funeral services conducted by Rev. W. A. Schuler were held Sunday in the Florenceville Evangelical Church of which she had been a charter member. Burial in Cedar Hill cemetery.
May God comfort the sorrowing ones and grant a happy reunion.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Minnie.
