WOODS.
Patrick Woods was born in July, 1830 in Ireland and came when 15 years of age to the United States arriving with his parents at New York where he lived for some time. He later resided at Darlington, Wis., where he married, and soon after moved to Howard county which has been his home for the past 45 years. Soon after his arrival in the county he bought the farm in Howard Center township, southwest of Cresco which was his home until about ten years ago, since which time, his wife having passed away about eight years previous, he has made his home in the families of his children.
He leaves to mourn his loss, six daughters, Mrs. Wm. Rinn, Mrs. Julia Wilson and Mrs. John McGourty, all of this county, and six sons, R. J. Frank and Will, of Cresco, Joe M., of Chicago, James, of St. Cloud, Minn., and Chas., of Huron, S. D., all of whom were present at the funeral. Another son, Thomas, died several years ago.
Mr. Woods passed away Friday, June 18th and was buried the Sunday following; requiem high mass being celebrated at the Church of the Assumption with interment in St. Joseph’s cemetery.
Mr. Woods was an honorable upright man in all his dealings, a sincere and practical Christian, and though he lived to a ripe old age to enjoy the companionship of family and friends, his loss will not the less be mourned by the family to whom he was always an indulgent father and by those with whom he had neighbored for so many years.
