Ione Meyer, age 97, formerly of Lime Springs, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 in Cresco, Iowa.

Ione Eleanor (Engelhardt) Meyer was born October 31, 1923 near Lime Springs, Iowa to Arthur J. and Mary E. (Olson) Engelhardt. She grew up with nine brothers and one sister.

On May 23, 1946, she was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) H Meyer at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Chester, Iowa. Ione was an active member of the church throughout her life.

Ione was a great cook. Her family will remember her wonderful swiss steak, potato salad, kolaches, homemade bread and pies. She always made sure no one walked away from the table hungry.

Ione was a great steward of the land. She enjoyed many years of farming together with Bob, tending to her many vegetable and flower gardens, watching the birds and admiring the beauty within the trees as the seasons changed.

Survivors include her three children; Diane (Bob) Bowen and their children Christine (David) Slump and children Kaitlyn and Nathaniel and Rob (Kim) Bowen and children Mikayla and Andrew. Her son, David Meyer and his two daughters; Jessica (Andy) Stinson and their children Grant, Elliott and Ross and Jenna (Ramond) Zubrod. Daughter, Connie (Kenneth) McGrane and their children; Daniel (Kathleen) McGrane and children Isabel and Keira, Dominic (Karen) McGrane and children Dodge and Casper, Damian (Tara) McGrane and children Christine, Cassius, Catalina, Caelius, Celia and Caritas, along with her sister, Marjorie Granahan.

Ione is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert (2008), nine brothers; Delmar, Abner, Myron, Leo, Howard, Harry, Carl, Arthur and Orville and a brother in-law Eugene Granahan.

In lieu of memorials, you may consider planting a tree to honor Ione or giving a donation to Feed America or a local food bank of your choice.

Private services will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Cresco, Iowa.
