DOUGHERTY.
Bernard Dougherty was born at Janesville, Wisconsin, Dec. 5, 1858, and died at his home near Hamblin, Montana, February 24, 1915, at the age of 57 years, 2 months and 19 day. He immigrated to Iowa with his parents when a child and settled near Cresco where he grew to young manhood. In June 1883 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth McCarville. To this union nine children were born, eight of whom with the widow survive, six sons and two daughters, one son dying in infancy. About 14 years ago he moved to St Cloud, Minn., where he resided until two years ago. From there he went to Hamblin, Montana, his last home.
One year ago he was taken ill with what proved to be a cancer of the face, and for the last seven months he was a great sufferer. All that medical aid and loving hands could do was done to relieve his suffering, but to no avail, and death came as a gentle relief. He leaves besides his widow, eight children, six sisters and two brothers.
The funeral was conducted from the home where a Requiem High Mass was held and the remains were borne to their last resting place in the new cemetery at Prairie Elk, Montana.
