John Haberly passed away Tuesday night at the home of his son-in-law, Will Frank, in New Oregon, after an illness of some months which terminated in an attack of paralysis a few days ago. Funeral services will be held Saturday from the German Lutheran Church.

John Haberly was born Oct. 18th, 1837, in Machtleheim, Konigsreich, Wertenburch, Germany, and died at .the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Frank, March 3rd, 1915.
In early boyhood he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
In the year 1853 he emigrated to America and located at Niagara Falls, and Buffalo, N. Y., where he learned the harness and saddlery trade. In 1856 he came west to Winona, Minn., where in 1859 he was married to Katie Miller. To this union were born seven children, two dying in infancy, and Louise, John and Charles passing away in man and womanhood He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Wm. Frank and Mrs. Frank Wilson, both of Cresco; eleven grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Barbara Knuppe of Seattle, Wash.
In the year 1860 he took up his business at Rochester, Minn., and four years later removed his shop to McGregor, Iowa. In 1868 he came to New Oregon twp. and located on the farm known as the Haberly homestead south of Cresco, until 1892, when he moved to Cresco and in 1905 he again took up his nearly trade.
On February 2nd, on account of ill health he went to the home of his daughter Mrs. m. Frank, thinking that a rest would lead to his recovery, but while there he was taken with a paralytic stroke, February 21st, which caused his death.
Burial was at Oak Lawn Saturday, March 6th.
