A Veteran Passes Away.
Hon. James H. Brown, who represented Winnesheik county in the 10th and 11th General Assemblies (1863 to 1867) died at his home in Cresco, on the 20th inst., aged 83 years 9 month and 20 days. Mr. Brown came to Iowa and settled in Orleans township in 1856. In 1866 he moved over into Howard county, where he has since lived. His wife, aged 77 years, and seven children out of a family of eleven survive him.

Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone in New Oregon Cemetery shows he was born June 30, 1814 and died April 20, 1898.
