George Howard, formerly living three miles east of Villisca, was found hanging in a barn. A note found in his pocket says: “Goodby, all. I am tired of my troubles.” Relatives say they know of no trouble. He had lived in Villisca for years and was held in the highest respect.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Oct. 15, 1850 and died Dec. 6, 1913. He is buried in Nodaway Cemetery.
