Boy Killed In Strange Accident.
Ed. Wolf, aged 14 years, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Will Wolf, who reside on the Slawson farm, one mile south of Granger, was almost instantly killed Wednesday forenoon at about 10:30. He, with another brother, Carl, in the absence of their father, had attached an iron pipe to a grindstone and had belted from this to the fly-wheel of a gasoline engine, and the boy killed was attempting to grind an axe on the stone. As it was running at a terriffic speed, sharpening the axe was impossible and Carl attempted to shut off the engine, and in some way the grindstone was given a sudden jerk over against the fly-wheel of the engine, breaking the stone into fragments, one piece striking Ed. just below the heart and another in the face, but it was the injury to the heart that was fatal. Other pieces of the stone were scattered in every direction and hurled long distances.
Doctor Tierney, of Granger was summoned and administered stimulants but of no avail and death resulted in about 20 minutes after the accident.
The father was in Cresco on business at the time and was found and summoned home, and the mother was also on the way to Cresco but was stopped at a neighbor’s.
The deceased was a bright, manly boy, and the stricken family have the sympathy of all in their sorrow.
The funeral will take place Friday afternoon at 1 o’clock at the German Lutheran church, a short service being held at the home at 10 o’clock in the forenoon.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows the name spelled Wolfe and that he was born in 1899. He is buried in New Oregon Cemetery.
