McGinnis.
James J. McGinnis was born in Limestoneville, Montour cou{n}ty, Penn., January 25, 1837. He was married Nov. 28, 1861, to Sarah E. Cowden. They moved to Illinois in 1868, and to Howard county, Iowa, in June 1873. Mr. McGinnis became a member of the M. E. church in 1855.
Five children were born to them, three of them awaiting him in the next world. He leaves: the good wife, two children, Rollo of Jackson, Ok., and Mrs. Ida M. Gibbons of Cresco; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
He was stricken the 21st day of April, 1913, since which time he has been a constant sufferer, and passed away Friday evening at 5 o’clock at his home in Cresco.
Funeral services, which were in charge of the Masonic lodge, of which he was a member, were held at the home Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. Soper officiating.

Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone in Oak Lawn Cemetery shows the name spelled McGinness.
