H. C. Rand Dies Suddenly.
H. C. Rand, one of the old residents of the county, passed away shortly before noon on Saturday morning, death coming while on the porch of his home on West Second street.

OBITUARY.
Henry Clay Rand was born at Apple River, Ill., Aug. 5, 1837, and died very suddenly of heart failure at his home in Cresco, Iowa, June 28, 1913, age 75 years, 10 months and 25 days. He was married Oct. 16, 1872 to Julia Phebe Cole. He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife and one daughter, Mildred and one brother George W. Rand, of Springfield, Ill. He had been an invalid for 25 years, patient through all his suffering, never complaining. He was a kind husband and father and a good neighbor, always exerting a good influence. He leaves a vacant chair that can never be filled.
Funeral services conducted by Rev. Gammons were held at the home Tuesday at 10 o’clock, with burial in New Oregon cemetery.
