MILZ
Catherine Mullenburg was born in Cologne, Germany, Oct. 15, 1833 and immigrated to this country in July, 1856, and in September of the same year was united in marriage to John Milz at Whitewater, Wis. They came to Iowa soon after, residing at Conover for some time and moved to Cresco with the advent of the railroad here in 1866, Mr. Milz being one of the pioneer merchants of the town. In 1877, Mr. and Mrs. Milz went onto a farm in Howard Center township where they resided for several years, moving in 1898 to Cresco where Mr. Milz died in April 1904.
After a short illness Mrs. Milz passed away on Dec. 29th, and on the 31st the funeral services were held at St Joseph’s church, requiem high mass being celebrated by Father Wagener. Interment was in St. Joseph's cemetery. The deceased leaves to mourn her loss, four sons and two daughters, Henry of Norton, Kansas, John of Clearwater, Minn., Will and Charles, of Cresco, Mrs. August Sudtelgt, of Le Mars, Iowa, and Miss Mae Milz of St. Cloud, Minn., all of whom were present at the funeral except Henry. In addition to the above, Mrs. Sudtelgt's husband, and J. J. Achatz, husband of a deceased daughter, were also present.
