John G. Melaas who has been ill for some time passed away Wednesday, July 13, at his home northeast of Cresco. Mr. Melaas was born in Norway, and was a little past 83 years of age. The funeral will occur at the family home Sunday afternoon, Rev. Svenningsen of LeRoy officiating.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Oak Lawn Cemetery and was born in 1827.
