Geo. Kunes passed away yesterday morning at about 7:30 o’clock, after a long illness, having been confined to his bed for nearly a year.

OBITUARY.
KUNES.
George Kunes was born near Geneva, Seneca County, New York, Aug. 11, 1840, and died at his home in Cresco, June 22. 1911, aged 70 years, 10 months and 11 days.
The deceased came with his family to Busti, the old town near Elma, in 1864, later moving to New Oregon and from thence to Cresco with the establishment of the town. During all the time from his arrival in Cresco till failing health prevented, he worked at the mason and plastering trade, he with A. D. Lent building the Beadle residence, one of the first buildings erected in Cresco, now a part of Mercy Hospital, and was employed on most of the earlier buildings of the town.
He leaves to mourn his loss a wife and six sons, W. G. Kunes, of Cresco, Frank Kunes, of McDougall, N. Y., L. G. Kunes, of Carrington, N. D., Theodore Kunes, of Valley City, N. D., E. J. Norens, of Escanaba, Michigan, and Arthur Kunes, of Cresco.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the home, Rev. Gammons officiating assisted by Rev. Hinman. Interment at Oak Lawn.
