Wm. Howard died yesterday morning at his home in the north part of town. The funeral will be held at the M. E. church to-morrow at 2:30 p. m.

OBITUARY.
Howard.
Wm. Howard was born in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, England August 14th, 1836. In infancy he was baptized into the Church of England. When William was six years old the Howard family came to America and landed where Chicago now is. Here he established a store. This store was exchanged for a farm at Downer’s grove, twenty miles away. The family stayed on this farm thirteen years. The father then came to Howard county, Iowa, and secured land, bringing his family to this frontier farm home in New Oregon twp. in 1856.
The day before Christmas, 1864, the deceased was married to Pluma A. Emmons. After living on a farm in the same township a few years they came to Cresco 38 years ago and built the house now occupied by them. Here their family of five boys grew to manhood. Four of the boys have homes of their own. William L. resides in Minneapolis, Ed L. and George in St. Paul, and John B. at Monticello, Minn. Norman M. remains at home and cared for his father the last six weeks of his illness. All the boys but Ed were at home when their father died the morning of the 2nd inst. Mr. and Mrs. Howard have four grandchildren. Mr. Howard leaves two sisters Mrs. E. B. Wildman of Cresco and Mrs. Lizzie Hurd now in Colorado.
Mr. Howard’s funeral occurred Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, at the M. E. church. The pastor Rev. Benj. W. Soper conducted the services. Mrs. M. M. Moon had charge (of the music. Burial was at New Oregon cemetery.
