Chan. Robinson returned Wednesday from North Dakota, bringing the body of his nephew, S. L. St. John, and is somewhat “shaky” still as the result of being in a railroad wreck which took place early Tuesday morning about 100 miles west of Minneapolis. A broken rail toppled the entire train down a 40-foot embankment, and while much damage was done, but one person was badly hurt.

Samuel Lorenzo St. John was born Oct. 23, 1878, two miles east of Granger, in Fillmore county, Minn., where he spent his boyhood days and grew to manhood. At the age of 22 years he went to Madison, S. D., remaining there two years. Then with a desire to seek a home of his own, he went to Douglass, N. D., where he took a homestead, and resided until his death, March 16, 1912. He was 33 years, 4 months and 22 days old at the time of his death.
He leaves to mourn his death a father, a step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. L. S. St. John of Cresco; a brother, Elmer St. John of Granger, Minn.; two half- sisters, Mrs. Ole Teigen of Harmony, Minn., and Lillian St. John of Cresco, and a half-brother, George St. John, of Cresco. Also an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Robinson of Cres¬o, besides numerous other friends and relatives who will all greatly miss him.
He was a loving son and brother and made many friends wherever he was known.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the L. S. St. John home in Cresco, Rev. John Gammons officiating, and the remains taken the following morning to Granger for interment.

This community was shocked on hearing of the sad news of the death of Sammy St. John, son of Lorenzo St. John and brother of Elmer of this place. Sammy was living alone on a farm near Douglas, N. D., and as far as friends and relatives here know he was in good health and standing. The exact cause of his death is unknown, but all indications lead us to believe that it was a suicidal case. Sammy had many friends in and around Granger and was always a welcome guest among them. This community sympathizes with the bereaved relatives and friends.
